The Archimedes Codex
Revealing The Secrets Of The World's Greatest Palimpsest
You are invited to the launch of
THE ARCHIMEDES CODEX
by Reviel Netz and William Noel
at the British Academy,
10 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1
on Tuesday 8th May 2007 at 6:00 p.m.
Dr. Will Noel, co-author of The Archimedes Codex (published by Weidenfeld & Nicolson), and Director of the project to retrieve the Palimpsest will give a fascinating behind the scenes look at the extraordinary campaign to discover unique copies of ancient texts by some of the ancient world's greatest mathematicians, politicians and philosophers.
He will also use this platform to discuss in further detail the new text found in the Palimpsest — an otherwise early Christian commentary on Aristotle's Categories.
The talk will be followed by a drinks reception.
Entry to the event is free but seats are limited and must be booked in advance.
To reserve your place, please ring Aliya Mirza on 020 7520 4429
